About the Presenter
Doug Block balances shooting and directing his own documentaries (51 Birch Street, The Kids Grow Up, 112 Weddings, all of which were released theatrically and have been broadcast on HBO) with producing films and serving as a consulting producer for other filmmakers. His credits as a producer include: Silverlake Life (Sundance Grand Jury Prize, Peabody, Prix Italia), Jupiter’s Wife (Sundance Special Jury Prize, Emmy), A Walk Into the Sea: Danny Williams and the Warhol Factory (top awards at Berlin and Tribeca), The Edge of Dreaming (broadcast on PBS series POV) and Resurrect Dead: The Mystery of the Toynbee Tiles (Sundance Best Director Prize for Documentary). He is also the founder and co-host of The D-Word, an online forum for documentary filmmakers with 15,000 members from around the world.

NOTE ON PAYMENT
Full payment must be received to guarantee you a spot in the program. If you are registering at the Earlybird or Regular rates, payment must also be RECEIVED no later than the last date to qualify for those fees.
If you are paying by credit card, select the "Paypal" option (you can pay by credit card even if you don't have a Paypal account). Payment must be made at the same time you complete the online registration form.

Because we wanted to accommodate a larger number of participants than Docs In Progress can fit, we are holding this event at The Potter's House in Washington DC. The Potter's House is located in the heart of Adams Morgan at 1658 Columbia Road, NW (on Columbia between 17th Street and Mozart Place).
Potter's House is a 10 minute walk from the Columbia Heights Metro station (Yellow/Green line) or a 20 minute walk from the Woodley Park Metro station (Red Line). It is also walking distance to the Metrobus S-2/S-4 bus lines, the Metrobus 42 bus line , or the Circulator Bus which goes between Woodley Park, Columbia Heights, and McPherson Square Metro stations. If you must drive, street parking is difficult in this area; there is a parking garages between 18th Street and Champlaign which you can likely get for about $20 through one of the online parking reservation websites.
If your circumstances change and you must withdraw from a program after registering, please be aware of our refund policy:
Withdrawal 30 or more calendar days before the first day of a program: 75% refund
Withdrawal 11-29 calendar days before the first day of a program: 50% refund
Withdrawal 10 or fewer calendar days before a program: No refund
In the event of seriously inclement weather, we will make a decision by 3 pm on whether to cancel that evening’s programs. (For Saturday programs, we will make the decision by 6 pm on Friday). If you have not received a notification from your instructor or the Educational Programs Manager, call our office at 301-789-2797 (we will have an outgoing message on voicemail).
