The Journal Record’s list of companies excelling in creating quality workplaces represents many industries, including banking and finance, health care, trucking, information technology and security, insurance, manufacturing, construction and even the nonprofit world.
But they all have one thing in common: They are among the Best Places to Work in Oklahoma, according to employee interviews and a look at their workplace policies, practices and demographics.
Working with Best Companies Group, The Journal Record has nominated 24 small and medium companies and 16 large companies for the 2017 award and will recognize them at a luncheon Sept. 28.
“The top companies have a lot of employees – 90 to 95 percent – who say they like the work, understand their role in the company and feel as though they have enough autonomy to the job in the best possible way. Those top companies also offered good benefits and demanded little or no overtime from their workers,” said Ted Streuli, associate publisher and editor for The Journal Record.
Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process, analyzing the data and using its expertise to determine the final ranking. To be considered, companies had to have both a facility and 25 or more permanent employees working in the state of Oklahoma.
“The fun part about this program is that the companies on the list are a mix of those that are very familiar and some that are less well-known. But in both groups, we see employees who love their jobs and love their company,” Streuli said.
Nominees are divided into two categories – small/medium companies that employ between 25 and 249 U.S. employees and large companies that employ 250 or more people in the United States. The Journal Record will announce the top three winners in each category during the awards luncheon.
